A Printer Error Doesn’t Always Mean Starting Over

Printers reject artwork for many technical reasons. Your design may look perfectly fine on your screen but still fail the printer’s file checks because of its size, resolution, color setup, bleed, fonts or export settings.

You do not need to understand all the technical language. Send us the file and the message from your printer. We will review both and explain what needs to be corrected.

The resolution is too low.
Please add bleed.
The artwork is the wrong size.
We need a CMYK file.
The fonts are not embedded.
Important content is outside the safe area.
Please send a vector file.
Crop marks are missing or incorrect.
The background does not extend past the trim line.
Please provide a print-ready PDF.

What we can fix

We Prepare Your Artwork for the Printer’s Requirements

Every printer and printed product may have different requirements. We review the specifications you provide and prepare the artwork for that particular job.

Size, Bleed and Safe Areas

We correct document dimensions, extend backgrounds where possible, add the required bleed and keep important text and logos safely inside the trim area.

  • Correct final dimensions
  • Bleed extension
  • Trim and safe-area correction
  • Crop marks where required

Resolution and Image Quality

We check whether your artwork has enough resolution for its intended print size. When a simple resolution adjustment is not enough, we will explain whether part or all of the artwork needs to be recreated.

  • Resolution check
  • High-resolution export
  • Image cleanup where possible
  • Vector recreation when required

Color and File Setup

We prepare the artwork in the color mode and file format requested by the printer while protecting the appearance of the original design as closely as possible.

  • RGB-to-CMYK preparation
  • Pantone setup when supplied or required
  • Print-ready PDF
  • AI, EPS or SVG files where needed

Fonts, Layout and PDF Problems

We correct common production problems involving missing fonts, unoutlined text, incorrect margins, misplaced elements and unsuitable PDF export settings.

  • Font outlining or embedding
  • Margin and layout correction
  • PDF export setup
  • Page-order and file checks

Some files only require a technical correction. Others may need partial or complete recreation because the original artwork does not contain enough detail or editable information. We will review your file and tell you exactly what is required before sending the invoice.

Your File Is Not Sent Through an Automatic Converter

Some print problems require more than changing a setting or increasing a number. Missing bleed may require extending the artwork. A low-resolution logo may need to be rebuilt as a vector. Text, margins and backgrounds may need to be repositioned carefully.

Your file is reviewed by a real designer who considers how the final artwork should look after printing.
